CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Some students at Cedar Falls High School are getting hands on experience when it comes to wind energy.

For several weeks students at Cedar Falls High School will monitor a mobile power tower.

The tower was put up on the schools property. Thursday University of Northern Iowa graduate students were on hand teaching the classes about wind energy and the growing industry.

"Here is an opportunity that we can look at interactive window on the Internet and see what the max wind is and what the power is that the wind of the power tower is putting out so its real world for the students," said Dirk Homewood, Cedar Falls High School Mathematics teacher.

This is the first power tower UNI has put up. They hope to put them up at other high schools in the area.
