W-SR blows 16 point lead, loses to Grinnell at State

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Second seeded Waverly-Shell Rock blew a second half lead and fell to Grinnell 60-55 in the first round of the 3A State Tournament in Des Moines.

The Go-Hawks were led by Jesse Henderickson with 17 points and Klinton Carlson with 13.

Waverly-Shell Rock led 29-18 at halftime and extended the margin to 34-18 early in the third quarter, but Grinnell outscored the Go-Hawks 42-19 in the game's final 14 minutes to advance to the semifinal round.
