Exhibit honoring Iowa's fallen comes to Palo

A memorial paying tribute to Iowa's fallen heroes is now on display in Linn County.  "Remembering the Fallen" honors the 82 men and women from Iowa who have been killed in the line of duty in the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars.

Palo native Sgt. Kevin Gilbertson was killed in Iraq in 2007.  His family worked to bring the memorial to Palo, and they hope all Iowans will take time to visit the exhibit over the next few days.

"It's important because then they get the understanding of what all the troops have gone through, and what they go through over there.  It shows that these people have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  Because without them, we probably wouldn't live like we do," said Brad Gilbertson, brother of Sgt. Gilbertson.

"Remember Our Fallen" is on display at the Palo Community Center through March 7th.  It's open each day from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
