state of Iowa settles on lawsuit involving injured toddler

The state of Iowa has agreed to pay a $275,000 settlement on behalf of a lawsuit involving a toddler who suffered a severe head injury while in foster care.

the lawsuit says the Iowa Department of Human Services employees were warned 4-year-old Jayden Clark suffered neglect and abuse while under foster care in Albia, but failed to take action.

Clark also sustained brain damage after his time in foster care.

Officials say half the money will be invested for Clark's use when he is an adult, while the other half will go to attorneys and his parents.

Half of the money will be invested for the 4-year-old boy's use as an adult while the rest will go to attorneys and his parents.

The lawsuit will continue against foster parents and Jason and Christen Morgan. They deny any wrongdoing.
