Dubuque County Deputy arrested for burglary, stalking


A Dubuque County Sheriff's Deputy has been arrested on charges of third degree burglary and stalking.

Deputy James Doyle, 47, was arrested on Friday after an investigation by the Division of Criminal Investigations.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim was dating Doyle's ex-wife. It says between September 2010 and October 2011, Doyle called the victim more than 20 times and made threatening statements. The document also says Doyle drove by the victim's home more than 20 times. Doyle is also accused of causing damage to the victim's truck and trailer, and breaking into his garage and damaging a boat.

Doyle has been relieved of his duties until the case is resolved. He's also been ordered to give up his firearms and ammunition. A No Contact Order has been set with the victim and his family.

Bond was set at $3,700.
