Remembering Wilt's 100 point game March 2, 1962

It was 50 years ago Friday night that Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in an NBA game. The Hall of Famer was playing for the Philadelphia Warriors and his unbelievable performance came against the New York Knicks.

Chamberlain started the game with the league record for most points scored in a game with 78. That came in a three overtime contest. His record for a regulation game was 73.

On that fateful March night in Hershey, Chamberlain played all 48 minutes in Philadelphia's 169-147 win over the Knicks. He shot 36 of 63 from the floor and hit 28 of 32 from the free-throw line.

And keep in mind, there was no three-point shot in those days.

The closest anybody has come was Kobe Bryant's 81 points in January of 2006, when he had seven three pointers.
