First look: Rescued dog has puppies

We have our first look at puppies with a true opportunity at new life.  They were born from one of the rescued dogs from the alleged puppy mill in Sac County.

The mama gave birth to six puppies February 12th while getting treatment from vet students at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.

"These young puppies will grow up never having to go through with what their mothers and other animals went through living in those horrible conditions," Executive Director of Cedar Valley Humane Society Bob Citrullo said.

The puppies won't be available for adoption until they're eight weeks old, so you still have to wait a few weeks before you can take one home.

There is one other pregnant dog that was rescued from Sac County in their care. No word yet on how far along she is.
