The trial for a Waterloo man accused of beating a teen to death last year has been delayed.

A pretrial conference was held Thursday morning for Paris Anding, 20, of Waterloo.  Police say Anding admitted to hitting Marcellus Andrews with a baseball bat in the early morning hours of August 19 in the 200 block of Cottage Street.  An autopsy showed that Andrews, 19, died from being hit with a blunt object.

The trial for Anding, who is charged with second degree murder, was scheduled to start Monday but has now been set for April 10 according to Black Hawk County Attorney Tom Ferguson.

Under Iowa law, Paris Anding could face up to 50 years in prison.
