WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Two men were arrested Wednesday night during a traffic stop and are accused of robbing a convenience store and threatening the clerk with a gun.

Officers were called to the Neighborhood Mart at 2100 Lafayette Street just before 10:00 p.m. for a reported robbery.

The clerk said a man came into the store, threatened him with a gun and demanded money.  Police say a second man was outside the store acting as a lookout.

They said the men didn't get any money and left in a vehicle.

About 20 minutes later, their vehicle was stopped in the area of West 3rd Street and Allen Street.

Officers arrested Marcus Deshawn Gamblin and Willie Traymore Phillips.  Gamblin is charged with first degree robbery and possession of a firearm as a felon.  Phillips is charged with first degree robbery.
