Matt Gatens' 33-point performance against Wisconsin on Thursday helped him grab Big Ten Co-Player of the Week honors.
The former City High standout scored a career high 33-points, grabbed three rebounds and added three assists in the 67-66 win over the Badgers. He shot 66.7 percent and made seven of 10 from three-point range.
On Sunday in Champaign, Gatens scored 22 points and grabbed two rebounds in a loss to Illinois. He was five-of-six from three-point range.
This is the first Player of the Week honor in his career. He shares this week's honor with Purdue's Robbie Hummel.
The Hawkeyes last Player of the Week was Jake Kelly on March 9, 2009.
Iowa's Aaron White has grabbed Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors three times this season.
