Iowa's underground water supply may not be able to meet demands by industry and urban sprawl.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has been surveying the water supplies over the past four years. A geologist says the state's water plants have received full updates since 1985. Updating plans could take five to ten years to complete, costing about $500,000 a year.
