Cedar Rapids standoff ends in arrest

No charges were filed after a Cedar Rapids man was involved in a standoff with police for four hours.

It happened at 1638 B Ave NE in Cedar Rapids. Police were called around 8:20 p.m. for a welfare check.  A 25-year-old man would not let police in, but a woman inside was in contact with police. She told them the man had a gun.

The Cedar Rapids Police Special Response Team cordoned off the 1600 block at 9 p.m.

Police said there were also four children of varying ages and another woman inside. They were released at 12:05 a.m. No one was injured.

Police said they took the man into custody without any trouble about 20 minutes later. The man had a Court Ordered Committal and was turned over to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
