UPDATE: Dance Marathon held at UNI

Hundreds of college students are dancing until they drop to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network.

It's part of the Dance Marathon hosted by the University of Northern Iowa.

More than 700 people are taking part..

They're representing 19 area children who are fighting for their lives.

The organizer says one boy in particular is on their minds.

10-year old Oliver Palmer died last week after a two year battle with a brain tumor.

His family spoke at the beginning of the event.

"For me, it was just an emotional time. And when his family spoke first, it was just unbelievable to see how much strength that family has. And they're really pushing us to keep going, keep fighting, keep standing for the kids," said organizer Brenna Bush.

The dancers hope to raise $14,000.

That's $1 for every undergraduate student at UNI.

At the end of the night, the earnings surpassed expectations bringing in more than $56,000.
