Iowa opts against Caylee's Law

An Iowa legislative panel has rejected a proposal requiring parents to report their missing children.

The move makes Iowa the latest state to have a so-called Caylee's Law stall.

The Iowa panel opposed the measure Wednesday out of concern it was too broad. It would require parents to know their children were safe in any 24-hour period.

At least 17 states introduced similar bills in response to the Casey Anthony case. The Florida woman was charged and ultimately acquitted of murder in the 2008 death of her two-year-old daughter, caylee.

Anthony didn't report her daughter missing for a month, and it took six months to locate the girl's body.
