CLAYTON COUNTY (KWWL) -

A Guttenberg man will spend 10 years in prison after ramming a sheriff deputy's squad car during a high speed chase.

27-year-old William Kobelt pleaded guilty to felony assault on Clayton County Sheriff's Deputy Shawn Boeke, eluding a pursuing law enforcement vehicle while exceeding the speed limit by 25 or more mph, illegal possession of ammunition, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and driving while barred.

A Clayton County District Judge imposed two 5-year consecutive prison sentences for felony assault and for eluding.  Sentences on the other charges will run concurrently.

The chase happened October 28, 2011.  It ended when he rammed his truck into Clayton County Sheriff's Deputy Shawn Boeke's squad car and ran into the woods.  Kobelt was captured in Colesburg in the next day.

Deputy Boeke suffered injuries as a result of the wreck but has since returned to work.
