Seven students in Jo Daviess County were taken to the hospital after a school bus accident Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 7:45 a.m. on W. Stagecoach Trail.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office says a Scales Mound Community Unit School District school bus lost control on the slick roads.  The bus hit a culvert before landing in the ditch.

The bus was carrying 19 students; 7 of which were taken to local hospitals, including Midwest Medical Center in rural Galena, Ill. and Mercy Health Center in Dubuque.

Bus driver Alois Bilgri, 75, faces a charge for improper lane usage.
