WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Waterloo police say an East High student was hit on her way to school.

Captain Tim Pillack says 16-year-old Barbara Moore was crossing High Street at about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday when she was hit by a car.

The driver of the car, 42-year-old Dennis Cook, says the teen walked into his car. Police say a witness also confirmed this.

Police say Moore was able to make it to the principal's office to report the accident, but was later taken to Covenant Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver was cited for having expired license plates.
