DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

At the Dubuque City Council meeting Monday night, mayor Roy Buol will announce the city's plans to recognize National Problem Gambling Awareness Week in a proclamation.

The week is March 4 through 10 and is intended to educate the public about problem gambling, which the proclamation says, "is a public health issue affecting millions of Americans of all ages, races, and ethnic backgrounds in all communities and which has a significant societal and economic cost."

The city is partnering with the Substance Abuse Services Center in Dubuque to bring this awareness to the community.
