Poll: Iowans favor efforts to cut commercial property taxes

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

A majority of respondents to a recent Des Moines Register poll said they favor legislative efforts to cut commercial property taxes.

The latest Iowa polls show 70 percent of Republicans who were polled favored the cuts. Among Democrats, 47 percent also favored the cuts.

Governor Terry Branstad said the commercial tax rates hurt Iowa's economic growth. Opponents fear cuts would impact local revenue.
