GOP lawmakers frustrated with board of regents

Some Iowa House Republicans say they're frustrated with efforts to change the direction of the Board of Regents.

The group says it wants the organization to focus on reducing higher education spending.

Eleven GOP lawmakers are co-sponsors of a bill which would ban pay increases for university presidents if the regents also approved a tuition increase.

GOP lawmakers don't think the measure will pass, but are frustrated about higher education spending.

While some regents acknowledge the frustration from GOP lawmakers, they say regents are trying to decrease spending.

They also say Iowa universities need to pay wages high enough to attract top administrators, even if it makes an image problem.
