Waterloo East qualifies for state bowling tournament

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Waterloo East Trojans are heading to the state finals bowling tournament for a third time.

The team won the Class 2A qualifying tournament held at Maple Lanes on Thursday, beating out Cedar Falls and Waterloo West. East had a total score of 3435. The team is 9-2 this season.

State qualifying championship teams from eastern Iowa include Waterloo East, Cedar Rapids Prairie, West Delaware, and Oelwein. Also qualifying for the state tournament from eastern Iowa are Cedar Rapids Washington, Dubuque Hempstead, and Western Dubuque.

Individual state qualifying champs from eastern Iowa are:

  • Kolby Melsha, Iowa City City High
  • Justin Weber, East Waterloo
  • Phill Breitbach, Dubuque Hempstead
  • AJ Chapman, West Delaware
  • Grant Cosselman , Oelwein 

Individuals qualifying at large from eastern Iowa are:

  • Brogan Fiala, Cedar Rapids Prairie
  • Collin Weber, Waterloo East
  • Clayton Cole, Dubuque Senior
  • Justin Wyant, Linn-Mar
  • Luke Schroeder, Western Dubuque
  • Brandon Lynch, West Delaware
  • Dylan Werner, West Delaware

The state tournament will be held next week in Des Moines.
