Iowa WORKS plans youth job fair

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

If you know a teen looking for work, the upcoming IowaWORKS youth job fair can help.  It's set for February 23 from 4-6 p.m. at the Cedar Rapids IowaWORKS Center in the lower level of Lindale Mall below Younkers.

The job fair is open to the public and will feature 20 local employers who are currently hiring youth under age 18.  Some major employers include the City of Cedar Rapids Recreation, Mercy Medical Center, Hy-Vee, Nordstrom Direct, RuffaloCODY, and the Cedar Rapids Kernels.

IowaWORKS will also offer a workshop to prepare students for this event.  The workshop will be held on February 21 from 4-5 p.m. at the Cedar Rapids IowaWORKS Center.  Topics will cover the basics of filling out job applications, preparing for interviews, and tips on making a great first impression when meeting with a potential employer.  Those who complete this workshop will receive a certificate of completion and recognition on their name badge at the fair.
