DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Dubuque fire crews responded to a fire Wednesday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. that they are calling suspicious.

The house sits on the corner of 22nd Street and Windsor Avenue in Dubuque, across the street from Sacred Heart Church.

A witness tells police he thinks he saw someone running from the basement of the duplex.

No residents were hurt in the fire. Smoke was pouring from the home and fire crews had to smash through windows in order to get at the flames.

The Telegraph Herald is reporting that one dog died in the fire and another was saved.
