Woman saved from burning home in rural Strawberry Point

STRAWBERRY POINT (KWWL) -

A woman was rescued from a burning home in rural Strawberry Point on Friday night.

Emergency crews were called to a rural Strawberry Point home around 11:47 p.m. Friday.

A Clayton County Sheriff's deputy arrived, found the house in flames and a man outside that had burns on his body.

The man told the deputy that a woman was still inside the house.

Deputy Jack Ostrander went inside the house and found the woman.  Firefighter Jon Becker went inside and helped Deputy Ostrander get the unresponsive woman out of the house.

Once outside, the woman was given CPR and was revived.  She was taken to Central Community Hospital and then airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
