CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Two people face burglary charges after two unrelated burglaries in Cedar Falls.

The first incident happened Friday just after 7 a.m. Police say they responded to a report of an assault in the 3000 block of West 4th Street.

After investigating the scene, police say 25-year-old Steffen Price came to the home of a former acquaintance and assaulted the female victim by choking her.

Police say the victim tried to defend herself with a knife and eventually ran to a neighbor's residence.

Price chased after her as she was trying to flee the scene.

The victim was treated by paramedics, and is expected to be fine.  Police arrested Price at the scene and charged him with 1st degree burglary.  Price has since been released from jail.

The second incident happened Saturday around 9:15 a.m.

Authorities say they responded to the1000 block of Maplewood Drive for a report of an assault.

After arriving on scene, police say they found the suspect, 20-year-old Damontre Burt.

Burt attempted to flee the scene, and lead police on a short foot chase.

After catching up, officers say Burt continued to be resistant. Officers used a Taser to help subdue, and arrest him.

An investigation determined Burt entered the apartment of a former acquaintance and assaulted her, said police.

Paramedics took the victim to a hospital for treatment, there is no word on her condition.

Burt was charged with one count of first degree burglary, one count of assault, one count of interference with Officials Acts and one count of Public Intoxication, say police.
