Iowa GOP selects new chairman

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

A former Story County GOP Chairman has been elected the new chairman of the Iowa Republican Party.

A.J. Spiker was elected Saturday by the Iowa GOP's Central Committee to replace Matt Strawn.

Strawn announced his resignation Jan. 31 in the wake of disputed vote counting in the Iowa caucuses Jan. 3.

Spiker fills the remainder of Strawn's term that ends in January.
