Georgia-Pacific told employees at their Monticello plant that they will close the facility in the next few weeks.

About 45 jobs will be lost when the box plant closes its doors.

Workers were told that they will fill orders over the next few weeks before production is moved to plants in Dubuque and Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The Atlanta-based company, which makes tissue, packaging and building products, says it has had a hard time making the Monticello plant profitable.

The city will ask state agencies for help in finding new jobs for the employees impacted.
