One man arrested in Iowa City apartment burglary

Iowa City Police have arrested one man after he broke into an Iowa City apartment and had sex with a woman against her will.

Police said they were originally called to the apartment on a report of sexual assault. They say the woman had been asleep and when she woke up she found Javier Dennys Vazquez-Chavez, 26, on top of her. She did not know Vazquez-Chavez.

He left the apartment when she started screaming. Police were tipped off as to where he was by another tenant whose apartment Vazquez-Chavez had tried to break into. He was found in the 600 block of S. Dodge Street.

He is accused of First Degree Burglary which is punishable up to 25 years.
