President Barack Obama has nominated U.S. Attorney Stephanie Rose for a federal judge opening in Iowa.

The White House said Thursday that Rose was nominated for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.

Rose is currently the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Iowa, a post she has held since 2009. Prior to her confirmation by the Senate, she spent over 12 years in the office as an assistant U.S. attorney.

Rose received a bachelor's degree in 1994 and a law degree in 1996, both from the University of Iowa.
