Wyatt Johnson enters Alford Plea in murder trial

Wyatt Johnson, the Waterloo teen accused of killing Kevin Garcia during a gang fight in Exchange Park in April 2009, entered an Alford Plea during his murder trial Wednesday morning.

An Alford Plea means that Johnson does not admit guilt, but admits there is enough evidence to convict him.

The trial began on Jan. 16, and was actually Johnson's second trial on these charges after the first one ended in a mistrial.

Johnson pleaded guilty to second degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, willful injury causing serious injury and willful injury causing bodily injury.

He was sentenced to 65 years in prison and must serve at least 50 years of that.  He was also ordered to pay $150,000 in restitution to Kevin Garcia's family.
