Arrests made after fight at Waterloo West High School

Several students were arrested Wednesday morning after a fight at Waterloo West High School.

Sharon Miller, spokesperson for the Waterloo Community School District, says the fight broke out in the hallway between second and third periods.  She says the fight happened between two groups of students that had an ongoing feud.

Miller says that several students were arrested and says the school district will pursue criminal charges.  All students involved in the fight were removed from the building and school continued normally.

Police were at the school for dismissal on Wednesday afternoon, but Miller was not sure if that was at the request of the principal or the decision of police.

The Waterloo Police Department did not provide specific details, but said several students were arrested. One was 18 years old and the rest were juveniles. They are still investigating what caused the fight.
