Dubuque police catch burglars in the act


Two men were arrested on Tuesday after a Dubuque police officer caught them burglarizing a business.

The officer was doing business checks in the 3300 block of Hillcrest Road when he noticed that the electrical service to Contempo Salon Spa had been tampered with.  He then found that the rear door had was opened.

When he entered the salon, he found two men inside.  The men ran, but the officer was able to catch Tyler John Hohaus, 20, of Dubuque, in the ARC parking lot at 3355 Kennedy Circle.  Hohaus is charged with third degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, and interference with official acts.

After further investigation, Joshua William Holder, 18, also of Dubuque, was arrested. He is charged with third degree burglary.

Hohaus could face up to  seven years in prison and more than $14,000 in fines if convicted.  Holder faces up to five years in prison and as much as $7,500 in fines if convicted.
