Family member: Missing Crawfordsville woman found safe

Wednesday morning Mike Sojka received a phone call from a family member that has been 13 days overdue.

"I answered and he said good news we found Sharon in Texas and she's safe," said Sojka, Hopf's cousin.

Nearly two weeks after her disappearance, Hopf was found at a Fort Worth, Texas area laundromat.

A person approached Hopf Wednesday morning because Hopf appeared disoriented.

That person was able to find a phone number that Hopf was carrying for someone she knew.  Eventually family was contacted.

Now she's in the care of her brother who lives nearby in Texas.

"She's safe and we're just elated," Sojka said.

While the family finally has some answers, there's still plenty of unknowns.

Family members are still trying to figure out why Hopf's car was found at an abandoned house outside of St. Louis, Missouri two days after her disappearance, why she left in the first place, and how she made it all the way to Texas.

"That's the million dollar question.  We don't know how from St. Louis down to Texas she got there," Sojka said.

It's been a tough two weeks for Hopf and her family.

But the important thing, they say, is she is safe.  News family members had never given up hope they would hear.

"We kept our hopes up and obviously it turned out for the best," Sojka said.

Hopf was reported missing Jan. 5, after she didn't show up for work in Kalona.

Investigators said Jan. 13, they believed Hopf left town on her own accord.
