Asbury man allegedly shoots father after argument

An Asbury man is in critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound Thursday night.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office said around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Adam Podnar drove himself to Casey's General Store in Asbury. He showed people there that he had been shot in the abdominal area.

He then returned to his home in the 16000 block of Clover Lane, where police and ambulance personnel met him.

Allegedly, Podnar's son, Anthony Podnar, 32, shot his father after an argument and then threatened to shoot his brother, 41-year-old Alexander Podnar.

Anthony Podnar was taken to the Dubuque County Jail. Prosecutors charged him with Attempt to Commit Murder and Going Armed with Intent.

Officials took Adam Podnar to Mercy Hospital, where doctors treated him for his gunshot wound.
