Caucus called into question after possible vote discrepancy

APPANOOSE COUNTY (KWWL) -

Mitt Romney beat Rick Santorum in the Iowa Caucus by just eight votes. But a man who helped tally votes in the Iowa caucus says the numbers could be incorrect.

28-year-old Edward True helped count the votes at a caucus location in Appanoose County, and jotted the results down on a piece of paper to post to his Facebook page later.

His notes say Mitt Romney received two votes, but according to the Iowa Republican Party's website, True's precinct cast 22 votes for Romney.

A spokeswoman with the Iowa Republican Party says True is not a precinct captain, and he's not a county chairperson, so he has no business talking about election results.

The results for the Iowa Caucus will not be made official for a couple weeks.
