The election results didn't come in until early Wednesday morning. That's because a sleeping Clinton County woman held the key to the results.
The Republican Chair Edith Pfeffer thought she had reported her county's results. But there was a mix-up and the right people never received her precinct's final numbers.
Pfeffer, thinking her job was done, went to bed. After several missed calls from state officials, national media and even other volunteers; her friend knocked on her window and woke her up.
Pfeffer and her friend Carolyn Tallett talked to CNN After Dark early Wednesday morning. The two sleepy ladies stole the show. The news team congratulated the pair for getting in the results so everyone knew who won.
Mitt Romney edged out Rick Santorum by just 8 votes. The winner was not finalized until 1:30 Wednesday morning.
