Area golf courses to open Thursday and Friday

Thanks to unseasonably warm weather, some area golf courses will be open for play on Thursday and Friday.

In Waterloo, South Hills, Gates and Irv Warren Memorial golf courses will be open.  The discounted fall rate of $13 will apply and carts will be available at all courses.

After Friday, any further course openings will be considered day-to-day, but the city says it is likely they will close for the season after Friday.

If you have any further questions, call the Leisure Services Department at (319) 291-4370.

In Cedar Falls, Pheasant Ridge Golf Course tells KWWL that they have yet to close for the season and will continue to stay open as long as they can.

In Cedar Rapids, Twin Pines Golf Course will be open on Thursday and Friday as well.  The city says that as long as there is no frost on the ground, the course will be open at 8:00 a.m. each day for play.

The course will only be open to walkers and golfers are asked to use the temporary greens and stay off the permanent greens.

Cost is $5 plus tax.
