Iowa City fire displaces one

An overnight fire in Iowa City has displaced one person.

Fire crews responded to a fire around 3:00 Sunday morning at the Capitol House Apartment building on 320 South Dubuque Street.

Officials say they saw smoke coming from the ceiling on the third floor.

After evacuating near-by residents, crews entered an apartment and extinguished a fire on a table.  No one was home at the apartment at the time of the fire, but a dog and bird were rescued.

One firefighter was injured, but treated on scene and is expected to recover.

The one person living in the apartment affected by the fire has been relocated.

Officials have not said what caused the fire.
