Body Shops see less December business

With temperatures in the 30s and 40s and no snow, the workers at Witham Auto Collision Center said they aren't seeing as much business from winter crashes this year.

Business or collision repairs usually double during the winter months, Jamie Erhardt, collision center manager.

"Normally we have a problem with parking in our lot out here because of so many vehicles that are wrecked and not drivable anymore," Erhardt said.

With no snow in the forecast, that means for the most part, these guys won't be working overtime.

"We expect that every year, and the guys make those sacrifices with their families to do what they need to do to be here, to work on the vehicles, to get them out of the customer," he said.

He said during the winter they will normally see different types of hits or wrecks.

"They are more fender bender type stuff. Because the roads have the snow and ice on them, people kind of bounce off of each other. It's not the major stuff, more parking lot or at a stop light or stop sign accident," Erhardt said.

Erhardt said if people do have a repair they need to get done but were just waiting until after the holiday, it's actually a good time to get it done now.
