UPDATE: Man arrested in fatal Dubuque County crash

A Dubuque man was arrested after allegedly leaving the scene of a fatal accident Tuesday night.

The three-vehicle crash happened on Highway 52 North, near Highway 386 at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday.

The crash killed 28-year-old Casey Craugh of Hazel Green, Wis. and sent another person to the hospital.

Police say 41-year-old Earl Hiland crossed the center line with his pick-up and sideswiped a car driven by Craugh.

Craugh's car was then broadsided by a van. The van rolled, trapping the driver inside. The driver was taken to a Dubuque hospital for her injures.

Craugh died at the scene.

Authorities say Hiland fled the scene and was arrested Wednesday in Dubuque.

He is currently in the Dubuque County Jail on an $11,000 bond.

Hiland is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, failure to provide information and aid, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
