IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

An Iowa City man is charged with public intoxication after police say he tried to fix a woman's car while drunk.

Officers were called to the Auto Zone store on Highway 1 West after a complaint that a man was harassing customers to fix their cars.

When police arrived, they say they found Jack Hollis, 51, trying to fix a woman's car.  They say he had the hood open and parts taken off the engine.

Officers say they watched as he told the woman the car was fixed and shut the hood with parts still off of the engine and some of his tools still under the hood.

Police say Hollis had an open bottle of vodka with him.

Hollis reportedly agreed with officers that he shouldn't be drinking and fixing cars at the same time.
