Panthers roll over D-3 Loras

The Division III Loras College Duhawks were looking to pull a big upset against the UNI Panthers at the McLeod Center on Monday night.

The Duhawks held their own for the first five minutes, keeping UNI's lead to single digits, but with 14:22 to go in the first half, Solon native Matt Morrison got a layup to extend the Panthers lead to 10 and it wouldn't fall below that the rest of the night.

The Panthers led 43-22 at the half and would roll over the Duhawks 84-48.

Deon Mitchell and Austin Pehl led UNI with 13 points each.  The Panthers had seven players in double digits, including Morrison who had 10.

The Panthers shot nearly 52% from the field and 75% from the charity stripe compared to Loras' 35% and 58%.

Loras senior and Cedar Falls Native, Tim Kelly returned to the Cedar Valley and was the Duhawks only player in double digits with 11.

UNI will host the Ohio Bobcats on Tuesday Night at the McLeod Center.
