Iowa City police have arrested a man on Monday in connection with the December 14 robbery of the L&M Mighty Shop.

According to police, Jonathan Boggard, 21, walked into the gas station at 504 E. Burlington at around 11:40 p.m., showed the clerk a knife and demanded money.

They say he got between $200 and $250 and ran from the store.

Officers say they found Bogaard in the area just after the robbery occurred, but couldn't tie him to the crime.

A CrimeStoppers tip identified Bogaard as the robber.  When officers contacted Bogaard again, he denied robbing the store.  Officers say Bogaard had a lanyard hanging out of his pocket that matched a lanyard the robber was wearing during the robbery.

Police say Bogaard admitted to a theft and three car burglaries in the same week as the L&M Mighty Shop robbery.

He is being charged with first degree robbery, assault with a weapon, going armed with intent and fourth degree theft.

He is currently in the Johnson County Jail on $100, 000 bond.
