Rhoads inks new 10 year deal at ISU

Paul Rhoads will be the long-term Iowa State football coach if athletic director Jamie Pollard has his say.

On Friday, Pollard signed Paul Rhoads to a new 10 year deal worth $20 million.  Rhoads had made $1.15 million per year on his old deal.

The Cyclones' head man has now taken the team to a pair of bowl games in his 3 years at the helm.  Both trips were unexpected.

Rhoads has also become known for pulling off major upsets, including wins over Nebraska, Texas Tech, and Texas.

Although the biggest came this season when ISU took down second ranked Oklahoma State in triple overtime in Ames.  That was the win that also gained bowl eligibility for the Cyclones.

Rhoads and Iowa State are now preparing to face Rutgers in the 2011 Pinstripe Bowl on December 30 in Yankee Stadium.
