Mini dance marathon held in Waterloo

The Dance Marathon at the University of Iowa is always an extremely popular event.

Saturday night, there was something of a mini dance marathon.

Dozens of Waterloo West High and UNI students took part in the event at West High.

They were dancing for about three hours.

Ten-year-old Ollie Palmer is the inspiration for the group.

He's been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, but continues to help raise money for a place he's spent a lot of time - the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.

Heather Bentley Wagner, an organizer from West High, said "It was one of the things he wanted to give back to the Children's Hospital, is all the blankets. And so we had done that, and when the Dance Marathon came along, we thought 'what a perfect opportunity to honor him'.

UNI will host its first Dance Marathon early next year.
