Iowa's public universities could see a raise in tuition

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The Iowa Board of Regents could vote to raise tuition for in-state undergraduates at Iowa's three public universities.

The increase will be 3.75 percent.

The board plans to vote next week whether or not to approve the tuition hike.

If approved, it means an extra $240 for undergraduates at the University of Iowa, Iowa State University and University of Northern Iowa.

Mandatory fees would also increase for students by $50 dollars at Iowa and $45 at UNI.

The board says tuition levels could change after next year's legislative session depending on the amount of funding from lawmakers.
