Waterloo Black Hawks team up with the CBHS for adoption event

Joe Pavelski started his hockey career with the Waterloo Black Hawks. Pavelski now plays in the NHL for the San Jose Sharks.

Recently, he made headlines off the ice for helping to reunite a lost dog with its owner.

"The babysitter left a flier on the table for a stray dog from a gentleman passing them out earlier that day, and the dog actually showed up at his house. The dog got home within minutes because of the Pavelski's help, and the flier from the owner," said Cedar Bend Humane Society Administrator Jessica Parker.

Pavelski's good deed inspired the entire Black Hawks hockey team to help out the Cedar Bend Humane Society.

"The Black Hawks wanted to step up and help us find homes for our strays and animals for Christmas," said Parker.

A special adoption event with the Waterloo Black Hawks is set for Sunday, December 4th at the shelter's adoption center.

"So from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. the whole team will be here. Every adoption gets a number eight Pavelski sweater," said Parker.

The Black Hawk players plan to sign the sweaters and take pictures.

Also, all adoption fees are reduced by $10 throughout the day Sunday. Humane society staffers hope you'll visit the adoption center Sunday to meet the Black Hawks, and to hopefully meet a new member of your family.
