Bishop's leaving Kennedy Mall

Citing changing economics, Kennedy Mall has announced that Bishop's Buffet will close its doors, making way for a beauty store and salon.

Bishop's will close on Jan. 3, and work will begin immediately on Dubuque's first ULTA Store and Salon.

"Unfortunately, the business climate for buffet restaurants nationwide has become extremely difficult," Rod Crowe, owner of Bishop's Buffet, said in a written statement. "Over the past ten years, the increase in food costs has outstripped the price of meals by ten percent, making it exceedingly difficult to sustain the business."

Crowe thanked the customers who supported the restaurant for 40 years and the management of the mall helping him maintain the business as long as possible.

Work will begin in January to transform the space into a beauty store and salon.  ULTA is expected to open in the first quarter of 2012.
