Winter weekend events in Waterloo aim to bring community together

Friday 'Loo returns to downtown Waterloo this weekend with a winter twist.

And if someone didn't get enough fun Friday night, there is another event Saturday, Winter Wonderloo, the theme this year for Downtown Lights the Night.

Winter Friday 'Loo starts at 3 p.m. and will run until 8:30 p.m. this weekend on the first floor of the Blacks Building in Waterloo.

A special tree lighting will happen at 7 p.m. in Regions Bank Park.  Holiday food and beverage from local vendors will also be available.

Saturday's Winter Wonderloo will cater more to children. Kids have the chance to meet Santa at 3 p.m. at Newton's Park and the Blacks Building. Photos with Santa will also be available.  Kids can buy gifts for a dollar and have one of the elves wrap it for them.

They will then move into the Haffa Building where people can enjoy cocoa, crafts, and refreshments as they listen to story tellers Dr. Charletta Sudduth and Tori L. Sudduth.

The night will end with a Santa Walk to Newton's Park for Caroling and Community Tree Lighting.
