Panthers land 6 on MVC first team

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

The MVC champion UNI football team landed 6 first teamers on the conference postseason list.

Quarterback Tirrell Rennie highlighted the list.  Rennie ran for 9 touchdowns, threw for an additional 11, while only tossing 2 interceptions all season.  He was joined on the offensive list by lineman Jay Teply.

On the other side, linebacker and defensive player of the year L.J. Fort picked up first team honors.  Fort is second in the nation in total tackles.  Lineman Ben Boothby and defensive back Varmah Sonie joined Fort on the list.

Kicker Tyler Sievertsen also picked hp first team honors.  Sievertsen was the top scoring kicker in the league hitting 17 of 18 on field goal attempts and a perfect 34 of 34 on PATs.
